Introduction
Chilgok Gyeongbuk National University Hospital High Risk Maternal Neonatal Integrated Treatment Center opened in March 2018 as a high-risk maternal neonatal integrated treatment center designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and is playing a central role in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region by establishing a system as an integrated maternal and child health treatment center. The High Risk Maternal Neonatal Integrated Treatment Center is divided into a high-risk maternal fetal treatment unit and a neonatal treatment unit.
In the high-risk maternal-fetal unit, specialists are dedicated to outpatient and ward care, and a system is in place to ensure that specialists are always available 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies in the ward and delivery room. In addition, we have a 24-hour anesthesiologist on-call system, which allows for rapid surgery if emergency surgery is required during labor.
The hospital is equipped with a 6-bed maternal-fetal intensive care unit, an operating room and recovery room in the delivery room, and a 31-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and has established close cooperation with each specialized department of the Pediatric and Adolescent Medical Center. More than 50% of the annual deliveries are high-risk pregnancies with a combination of risk factors such as preterm labor, pregnancy toxicosis, gestational diabetes, maternal internal medical conditions, and fetal congenital abnormalities, and we strive to manage these pregnancies to ensure safe delivery.
The Neonatal Care Department operates a 31-bed NICU, and since being designated as a 'Regional Center for Neonatal Intensive Care' by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2017, it has been responsible for the care of many high-risk newborns in the region with its outstanding medical capabilities and medical staff.
